About
The History Of Delia’s
Ted and Soula Theodorou shared a dream of opening their own restaurant, and in 1981 opened Delia’s in Springfield, Virginia. Ted’s knowledge of cuisine and Soula’s engaging personality have earned Delia’s the notoriety and loyal following that it receives today. Delia’s has garnered awards including “Best Tasting Low Cholesterol Pizza in the entire D.C. Metropolitan Area,” as seen on the Discovery Channel with Lynn Fischer, host and author of “Low Cholesterol & Gourmet Food.” Delia’s has also been proclaimed as one of the best pizzerias in the country in the book “Everybody Loves Pizza,” endorsed by Mario Batali, Food Network celebrity chef and best-selling author. Their perfection of Old World recipes and family atmosphere has kept their guests coming back for over 37 years!
Growing up, their son George and daughter Alki had learned the art of the restaurant business working side-by-side with their parents, knowing that one day the business would be their own. After both finishing college, George became General Manager and joined the family legacy that is Delia’s and Alki became General Manager of another successful Theodorou family restaurant venture. Over the next few years, George and Alki came together to grow the Delia’s brand as it is the one restaurant that held tride and true in their family. Together, they created a new line of Delia’s restaurants with a modern flair.
The new Delia’s Mediterranean Grill & Brick Oven Pizza is a culmination of the Theodorou family’s traditional recipes, with George & Alki modern twists on menu, food presentation and décor. Having paved the road, their children, Alki & George are taking Delia’s to new heights. Expanding the Delia’s brand by focusing on new locations across the D.C. Metropolitan area
We hope the story of Delia’s continues on for generations to come and that our guests will always enjoy the taste of our authentic cuisine and warm hospitality!
